K7XC 2004 January VHF Sweepstakes

Welcome graphic

Originally I was going to start this contest at the DM04/05/14/15 grid corner near Edwards AFB but after learning N6TEB/R and N6DN/R were starting at the DM13/14/23/24 grid corner in Joshua Tree National Monument I decided to join them there to facilitate my first ever contacts on 902 and 10368.

I originally planned to have Tim - NS9E join me for this trip but some last minute things popped up keeping him from joining me. That didnt keep him from loaning me his IF switch and xvtrs for 902, 1296, and 10368 Mhz.

A slight departure from my usual route to get close enough to work some fellow rovers on 3 microwave bands I borrowed from Tim - NS9E. Imagine my dismay when the IF rig died after just a handful OF QSO's at the very beginning of the contest. The loss of these 3 bands easily cut in half what my final score could have been. I did manage to make my very first contacts on 902 MHz and 10 Ghz though!

"I have observed all competition rules as well as regulations established for amateur radio in my country. My report is correct and true to the best of my knowledge. I agree to be bound by the decisions of the Awards Committee."
